Week 4 Assignment 1: Reader Response

Once they have the desired results, teachers should come up with understandings by asking themselves what are the big ideas that they want the students to walk away with from this lesson.   Based on the understandings, teachers can develop essential questions, which will promote student inquiry, reflection and help the students understand the material. Next, teachers should determine what facts- knowledge and skills are necessary for students to achieve the desired results. In this way, by working backwards, teachers can ensure that they are focused on what the students need to learn.
